Guitar Reamping Service
Guitar reamping is a recording method where a DI guitar signal recorded at home or through an amp simulator is later sent through a real guitar amp and cabinet, then recorded again with microphones.
Since you do not need to run a loud guitar amp during the original recording, you can record at home without worrying about your environment or the time of day, and still achieve the sound of a real guitar amp later.
At Crunch Studio, we handle reamping for a wide range of guitar sounds, from high-gain metal, hard rock, and loud rock tones to clear, cutting rock guitar sounds that sit well in a mix.
We also support attended reamping sessions at our studio in Shinagawa, Tokyo, where you can work with the engineer while comparing amps, cabinets, and microphone setups in real time.
For clients outside Tokyo or unable to visit the studio, online reamping by file transfer is also available. Send us your recorded DI guitars, and we can deliver real amp-recorded guitar tracks using actual hardware amps.
Crunch Studio uses high-quality equipment throughout the entire reamping chain, including amp heads, cabinets, microphones, DI boxes, mic preamps, and power supply.
We can work with detailed requests such as specific gear choices and settings, or you can simply send us a general direction and leave the details to us.
We can also flexibly handle requests such as using multiple amp heads or cabinets, or changing microphone setups.

FAQ
- What is reamping?
- Reamping is a recording method where a guitar signal recorded through a DI or amp simulator is later sent through a real guitar amp and cabinet, then recorded again with microphones. It gives you the depth, air, and realism of an actual guitar amp that can be difficult to achieve in home recording.
- What kind of data should I send for reamping?
- Please prepare clean DI guitar tracks without distortion, ambience, or other effects. It is also helpful if you send a rough mix, reference tracks, and notes about the sound direction you want.
- What genres do you support?
- We support a wide range of genres including rock, metal, hard rock, pop, anime songs, loud rock, and more. We can suggest suitable amps and microphone setups depending on the song and arrangement.
- How specific can I be about the guitar tone?
- You can give general requests such as tight EVH-style rhythm guitars, a heavy Rectifier sound, or a lead tone that cuts through the mix. You can also specify the amp, cabinet, and microphone setup in detail if you prefer.
- Can you use multiple amps or cabinets?
- Yes. We can use different amps for rhythm and lead parts, change the character between left and right guitars, or switch setups by section. Depending on the details, additional fees may apply.
- Can I add microphones or change the microphone setup?
- Yes. In addition to the basic setup, we can add microphones or change the microphone placement. Please contact us if you want to fine-tune the tone in detail.
- What does treatment mean?
- Treatment is an optional service where we apply processing such as EQ and compression before delivery. It is recommended if you want to receive tracks that are already shaped to some extent and easier to handle during mixing.
- How will the reamped data be delivered?
- We deliver the reamped tracks with the same start point, length, and file format as the material you send us, so you can easily place them back into your production session.
- How long does delivery usually take?
- Depending on studio availability, delivery usually takes about 1 to 5 days. Please contact us in advance if you need a faster turnaround.
- Can I request reamping for just one song?
- Yes. We accept reamping requests from a single song. If you request multiple songs, pricing varies depending on the number of songs.
- Can you handle long songs or songs with many tracks?
- Yes. However, additional fees may apply depending on the song length, number of tracks, and work required. Please send the material first, and we will provide a quote in advance.
- Can I attend the reamping session in person?
- Yes. You can attend the reamping session at the studio and compare amps, cabinets, and microphone setups with the engineer. This is recommended if you want to refine the tone in detail.
- Can individuals request this service?
- Yes. We accept requests from individual artists, bands, production teams, and engineers.
- Can I ask for advice if I do not have a clear tone image yet?
- Yes. Based on your song and reference tracks, we can suggest a suitable tone direction. Feel free to contact us even if your request is still general, such as wanting a thicker sound or more presence.
