Crunch Studio is a drum recording studio in Shinagawa, Tokyo.
We record acoustic drums and percussion for everything from full band productions to standalone drum sessions.
You can bring your own kit or use our rental drums, and we also offer rhythm editing, mixing, and mastering after recording.

Yoichiro Ishino has 28 years of recording experience and has been running Crunch Studio for over 10 years.
He is a sound producer and engineer who has worked with top musicians in Japan and overseas, and has been featured in numerous music production magazines.
He is known for tight, powerful drum recordings and mic placement that brings out the character of the kit. He can also advise on tuning approaches suited to the song and genre, from fast, detailed metal performances to acoustic styles where ambience and natural response matter.

Drum recording usually requires about 90 minutes for setup, tuning, microphone placement, and breakdown after recording.
Your booking time includes recording, load-in, preparation, data export, load-out, and complete cleanup.
Overtime is available at ¥3,600 per 30 minutes, subject to studio availability.
Payment is required on the day of your session. We accept cash, credit cards, e-money, and QR code payments. Please note that a 3.5% processing fee applies to all non-cash payments.

- Can I book the studio for drum recording only?
- Yes. You can use the studio for acoustic drum or percussion recording only.
- Do you have rental drums?
- Yes. We offer well-maintained rental drums, snares, cymbals, pedals, and related equipment. Please check the rental price list on this page for details.
- Can I bring my own drum kit?
- Yes. You can bring your own drum kit, snare, cymbals, and other equipment. Since the studio is accessed by stairs, we also provide free hardware rental to help reduce the load-in burden.
- Can drums be recorded together with bass or guitar?
- Yes. Simultaneous recording with bass or guitar is possible by recording those instruments via line input. Bassists and guitarists can perform either inside the recording booth or in the control room.
- Can I request drum tech support?
- Yes. Support from an experienced drum technician is available.
- Can I also request mixing after recording?
- Yes. After recording, you can also request rhythm editing, mixing, and mastering.
- Can I take the recorded data home on the same day?
- Yes. The recorded data can be handed over on the same day.
- Are setup and tuning included in the booked time?
- Yes. Your booking time includes load-in, preparation, setup, tuning, recording, data export, load-out, and complete cleanup.
